Video Editing

Linear video editing is the process of selecting, arranging and modifying the images and sound recorded on videotape whether captured by a video camera or recorded in a studio. Until the advent of computer-based non-linear editing in the early 1990s “linear video editing” was simply called video editing

PAL, short for Phase Alternating Line, is a colour encoding system used in broadcast television systems in large parts of the world. Other common analogue television systems are SECAM and NTSC.

NTSC is the analog television system in use in Canada, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, the United States, and some other countries, mostly in the Americas (see map). It is named for the National Television Standards Committee, the U.S. standardization body that adopted it.

Video dimension means the area you viewed your video, It actually means the aspect and ratio that you are watching.

The most common ratio are 2:1, 4:3, 16:9 , or full screen.

I have a little clip of mpeg-1 which is 2.48mbs

And I start converting it into different format …

mov is a file extension for the QuickTime multimedia file format. It is 5.03 mbs

avi, which stands for Audio video interleave, is a compressed form of video. It usually has to install some decoding software before we actually playing with the video. It is 4.12 mbs

mp4 is MPEG Layer4, it is a compressed format, it is a universal ideal video format which plays on every computer and most of the video devices. It is 5.04 mbs

Mpeg2 is standing for Motion Picture Expert Group, it was supported by most of the computer and it has a high quality of resolution, but its size is relatively big. It is 4.06mbs
It almost double its size.

There is some opensource you can use for free to edit your video
Virtualdub: http://www.virtualdub.org/download
handbrake: http://handbrake.m0k.org/
SUPER:http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

I have prepared a video with the some transition and filtes applied( in the front and back ).

MPEG-1 : 8.4 mbs :  http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/27/829219/Default.mpg

MPEG-2:  18.6mbs : http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/27/829219/Default2.mpg

That is totally ridiculous

Photo Manipulation

Today I have experienced some stuffs about photo manipulation. First of all, let me explain some terms.

A palette is a designated subset of the total range of colors supported by a computer graphics system. Each color in the palette is assigned a number, and for each pixel, one of these numbers is stored.
This number determines the color of the pixel.

Bit determines colour of pixals, it is the measurment of quality in visual. more bits lead to higher quality of diagram. Like, 8-bit is equal to 256 colour; 16 bit equals to 65536; 24 bit means it has 16777216 color.

The characteristics of dithering is a mix of colour in a colour palette, through the process, we can mix out different colours; for example, #FF0000″ is red.

DPI means Dot-per-inch, it is a measurment of printing resolution.

Here is the explaination of some photo format:

JPEG is Joint- photograph-expert-group, it is a compressed into a stream of bytes. so it is comparatively small, but the quality is fixed.

GIF is Grahpic-Interchange-Format, it is a small animations with low resolutions- 256 colurs only. Its charactistics are small and with animation

PNG is Portable Network Graphic, originally it stores Line art, photograph image. No compression lose, stay real

TIFF is Tagged-format-file-format.  Compression ratio remain unchanged.

Step 1

Step 2, background

Step 3, fill with red … ?

Fill with red colour ? … sure ?

Step 4, adjusting the brightness setting , etc

step 5, end up before turning greyscale

Below are different format: jpeg, gif, png, tiff

JPEG

GIF

PNG:

and TIFF : http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/27/829219/bird.tiff

Guess what I am saying ?

Audio format ( Correction )

I have created different format of Audio files: mp3, wav, aiff, aac(m4a)

AAC: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/27/829219/aac%20.m4a

AIFF: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/27/829219/aiff%20form.aif

MP3: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/27/829219/mp3%20form.mp3

WAV: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/27/829219/wav%20form.wav

They are pretty much unique and have their own styles.

mp3 and aac, is the smallest. They are designed to be an ideal audio file and mp3 is the universal file, originally aac is designed for Apple Macintosh. AAC is also called MPEG- 4 Audio. the characteristics of them are small and have a high sound quality.

wav and aiff, their product was huge, very. The size of the file is approximately 12.7 mbs each, which is 10 times than mp3. Wav is originally designed by Microsoft and it is ideal to make it into a simple and  compressed audio (32-bit). The quality is the greatest. If it is so large in volume, it will lose the advantage to use wav and aiff to store as an audio file.

Drawing Sample

I have a drawing sample which I created by Inkscape. Please feel free to take a look of it if interested :
